InterScience has developed a unique technology for real time accommodation of blooming in night vision devices. The system actively monitors the visual field for blooming and selectively eliminates the bloomed area in real time to maintain visualization in the remainder of the field.  Blooming can affect a night vision image in two primary ways.  First, a small bloom would activate the automatic gain control of the unit and severely degrade the contrast across the image.  In some scenarios, this loss of contrast severely diminishes visualization capabilities.  Second, a large bloom effectively blinds the entire image.  Active elimination of both of these types of bloom effects is possible with InterScience’s anti-bloom technology.  The pictoral sequences shown below demonstrate the ISI anti-bloom technology in both of these scenarios.
